Last month, the children at WRC received a brand new refridgerator purchased from donations collected through set-up standing orders, the Carol Service and special envelopes for cash donations. This week, a purchase of a large oil heater for the physiotherapy room will be made. These items will go a very long way in meeting the needs of the children. The fridge will provide much needed storage which will make it cheaper as groceries can now be bought in bulk, and the heater will be of tremendous health benefits during therapy sessions. Thank you to all who have donated and please continue to do so. Photographs can be viewed on http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=146366252055852
On Sunday the 3rd of October 2010, the project was officially launched during the service with a presentation including elaborate information about Westwood Rehabilitation Centre for children with disabilities in Zimbabwe and a video of the children at the centre praising God! About £130 was collected in cash and standing order pledges are yet to be collated. Once again, a heartfelt thank you for all the contributions. The Children should receive their first (of many) donations by the end of this month!
In light of the recent floods in Pakistan, Helping Hands collected just over £100 after the church service on Sunday 8th of August 2010. The money was forwaded to the Disaster Emergency Committee for the cause. A big thank you to all who contributed and prayed for the victims. |
