LEONARD CHESHIRE ZIMBABWE TRUST
“Creating opportunities for people with disabilities”

Welcome to Leonard Cheshire Zimbabwe Trust

Leonard Cheshire Zimbabwe Trust (LCZT) is a non-profit organisation which is registered in Zimbabwe. It is also a member of the Leonard Cheshire Disability Global Alliance.

It started operating in 1981 and has its National Office at Westwood, Kambuzuma in Harare, Zimbabwe. Also housed within the National Office complex is the Westwood Children Rehabilitation Centre. From humble beginnings, looking after 1 disabled child in 1981, the Rehabilitation Centre can now not just accommodate 12 residential children but also has an equal number of children from the neighbourhood who come for day care. It has capacity to offer rehabilitation services to about 50 children on a day care basis all drawn from the neighbourhood suburbs of Kambuzuma, Rugare and Warren Park. A survey conducted reveals that there are close to 100 children with disabilities in these areas. However, due to transport problems only 8-12 children are brought to the Centre daily either on their mothers backs or on wheel chairs.
